RAW MATERIAL AREA

Citronella oil is also known as Java oil. Citronella is widely grown in Tuyen Quang, Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, and Dak Lak provinces. Citronella has a light purple color on the outside, and is usually smaller than lemongrass. The oil content in citronella leaves is about 0.8-1.5%

TECHNIQUES OF CITRONELLA GROWING

Citronella oil is propagated by planting small, old root. You should choose soil with good drainage. The distance between the citronella beds is about 60cm, not too sparse as this will create conditions for the grass to spread; You should also not plant too quickly because it will cause the tree to grow slowly.

After planting, provide enough water for the tree to quickly take root. Prune or plant to compensate for the correct spacing. Plants that are 3-4 months old start harvesting the first batch by cutting all the leaves above the ground (leaving about 10cm of the tuber stem). Post-harvest litters are harvested every 45 days. After about 3-4 years, start planting again.

HARVEST

After growing citronella plants for about 3-4 months, the leaves can be cut and harvested. Then continue to harvest every 45 days. One year, 5-6 leaf crops can be harvested. Each hectare of citronella cultivation can yield 10-15 tons of leaves/hectare/year. Citronella is not picky about soil, can grow well even in barren soil, does not need to use pesticides, so it has become a greening plant for low hills and brings economic efficiency 2-3 times greater than growing corn, cassava.

DISTILLATION OF CITRONELLA OIL

The distillation equipment uses steam distillation technology and heating through a large capacity boiler.

The condenser uses beam tube condenser technology, ensuring maximum efficiency. Each ton of lemongrass leaves yields about 10-12 kg of essential oil.
