Additionally, peppermint is now being propagated and cultivated extensively in Binh Thuan province. The predominant cornmint variety grown in Vietnam is of Japanese origin, scientifically known as Mentha piperita, with a very high menthol content, over 60%.

HARVESTING

When the plant reaches maturity is when the essential oil content in the plant is at its peak. At that time, the entire above-ground part is cut for steam distillation to extract the essential oil.

After cutting, the plant will continue to sprout new shoots and buds for the next harvest. Approximately 3 harvests can be obtained in a year, after which the growth of the plant slows down, requiring replanting with new seedlings the following year.

PEPPERMINT OIL DISTILLATION

The distillation equipment employs steam distillation technology, heated via large-capacity steam boilers. The condensation unit utilizes tube bundle soldering technology to ensure maximum efficiency. Approximately 4kg of essential oil can be extracted per ton of cornmint.
